What is MIND? Where is it located? And why does it cause so many problems? I don’t know about you, but I love blogging. Seeing what others write about & what interests them. Yesterday I came across a blog that really got me thinking more about the mind.
Psychologists, Therapists & Psychiatrists all concerned with mental health, refer to the mind as often being disturbed or out of balance etc. Of course that’s their profession – to better understand the mind and treat mental health problems. Yet, if the most skilled surgeon on the planet disected our body (including the brain) I guarantee he/she wouldn’t locate anything resembling mind. Naturally they’d be able to locate the brain because its tangible, but they’d never locate what’s known as mind. On the other hand, we in the West take shed loads of prescribed medication to balance the mind So I guess today’s dilemma is this….
How do you personally define the mind & if it can’t be located anywhere in the body, how can it be responsible for so many mental health problems?

As we arrive at day 13 of our 17 days in colour, we come across the colour GREY. For some, grey is kind of non -descript but as a colour therapist I’d argue it’s one of the strongest peace keepers across the spectrum. See what you think!
Grey is a wonderful colour for neutralizing negative influences, erasing or cancelling situations, causing stalemates – in other words when you’ve ‘hit a brick wall’
Those who have grey as a favourite colour tend to be pragmatic in nature, seeing both sides of the argument but at the same time remaining neutral in opinions. Grey’s are great peacekeepers, they are the ones to find equilibrium and balance where all others can’t.
Grey is connected to the base chakra, and as this chakra provides our roots and our foundation for the rest of the chakra system, it is vital to have the base chakra in balance. The lesson of base chakra is grounding, along with the root chakra it provides a full inhabiting of our physical bodies as the embodiment of our connection to the element of earth. To cease existing primarily in our heads and inhabit our bodies. To cease grasping onto people, places and things as the source of our security. To find our own root support. The healing power of grey is the reducing of high blood pressure, anxiety & stress amongst regulating the heart & assisting the respiratory system.
Welcome to day 10 of our 17 days in colour. We’ve probably all heard the phrase ‘looking at the world through rose tinted glasses?’ Well, this is often so very true about people who favour our next colour PINK. But who said there was anything wrong with that?
12931901 – the heart chakra
The colour pink is such a beautiful aura to have around you. Pink is very well known for its healing properties around grief and sadness. It’s particularly powerful for people struggling with the ageing process, or women going through the menopause. If you fall into one of these categories, or if you’re struggling with the idea of ageing then pink is the perfect colour for you to have around or to wear. Pink is very powerful in bringing about a feeling of vitality & youthfulness, and balancing emotions and feelings. Although the colour is different, pink is actually associated with the heart Chakra because of its influence on the emotions. The magickal benefits of pink, are its amazing ability to create softness and tenderness, romance, caring, nurturing, for children, youth, peace, friendship, femininity, emotional love, emotional healing. If pink is your colour, you’re most definitely a dreamer but only of achievable things.
You become deeply affected by the injustices of the world, and can’t understand how people don’t seem to be able to care for each other. Being of such a gentle nature, means these things affect you emotionally mentally and spiritually. If pink is your favourite colour, it’s absolutely imperative that you take the time for quiet meditation or relaxation because you really do get affected by your environment. In fact, it’s fair to say that pink people are the strongest of empaths in the world. You pick up other peoples energies either positive or negative almost like a magnet so it’s important you keep yourself cleansed at all times.
Hi there, and thank you for joining me on this incredible journey of colour. It really is incredible how colour can impact our lives on every level. So now as we enter DAY 5 of 17 Days In COLOUR – Let’s look at BLUE.
Healing properties: Blue is cooling, electric, astringent. There’s a famous piece of literature by Dr. Edwin Babbitt, “The Principles of Light and Color,” which says “The Blue Ray is one of the greatest antiseptics in the world.”
The colour Blue cools down inflammation including rheumatic inflammation. It also brings down fever, high blood pressure, stops bleedings, relieves throbbing headaches & calms strong emotions like anger, aggression or hysteria.
Choosing the colour blue for surroundings or when choosing clothes is guaranteed to induce feelings of tranquility. In fact, blue is fantastic for any kind of disease or suffering, but it’s particularly powerful in any elements associated with speech, the voice box or the larynx. This is why anyone in the music/singing profession should try to wear blue accessories as much as possible.
Blue links with and stimulates the throat chakra. The throat chakra is also known as the “power center” and “the greatest center in the body” because it is the primary center of expression and communication. Magikal Benefits: Blue is governed by the elements water and air. Being surrounded by BLUE attracts deities of the sea, truth and wisdom. Peace and tranquility, calmness, truth, wisdom, justice, counsel, guidance, understanding, patience, loyalty and honor, sincerity, devotion, healing, femininity, prophetic dreams, protection during sleep, astral projection all come from this amazingly powerful colour.
If your favourite colour is blue: Your personality is most likely cool and soothing, leaving you dreamy and magical. You’re a creative type but because of this, peace & rest are paramount in order for you to replenish lost energies. People attracted to this wonderful colour, hate being crowded and really value personal space. For this reason they can be mistaken as anti-social but one thing’s for certain… You’re a loyal friend to have.
The stillness of snow, oh how the mind falls silent, calm and peaceful.
A while ago I wrote about life on the 17th floor, the sunsets like an air bound fire, the fear through the eyes of others & so many shades of green – even the greatest of artists would be envious. Many a physician will die of old age before finding a more powerful sedative – a more potent relaxant. Looking out onto blankets of white, any signs of anger, stress, depression pale into insignificance even if it’s only slightly. Tomorrow maybe the joy will return fully with a multitude of colours visible from the 17th Floor.
