Death – An inevitable part of life. As hard as we try, it’s impossible to avoid. Like everything else in life, we humans are impermanent, facing death from the moment we’re born yet we foolishly live under the illusion of immortality like we’re in some way exempt.
So many times I’ve blogged about the dreaded D subject Death. Mainly because here in the west, it’s something we fear or consider taboo. For example, we don’t discuss death in case we tempt fate, and the thing we definitely don’t want, is a visit from the black hooded guy with his wopping great scythe who only appears when your time’s up. There are however, many other differing opinions on death – for example, Buddhism says death is a continuation of life & merely a process of the consciousness leaving the physical body to enter a new one. Christianity sees death as returning home to the creator God & others feel when we die, we’ve gone and that’s pretty much the end.
What are your thoughts on death? Where do you believe we go once this life is over?

Day 14 of the 17 Days in Colour and we’re going on to explore the colour black.
Black is known as an esoteric and highly magickal colour. Governed by the Earth element, black is actually quite grounding but mostly associated with darker aspects of life. In fact, black is one of the most misunderstood colour across the spectrum. It’s often associated with negativity, death, witchcraft and evil spirits. Whilst it’s true black is connected with deities of the underworld, it’s also extremely powerful in repelling & banishing evil and negativity. Black is an amazing protector colour, and if you’re feeling vulnerable in terms of health, home life or most areas of life, wearing black is an excelling way of protecting the spirit. Wearing black, helps us break free from bad habits/addictions, assists deep meditation & opens up deep unconscious levels.
If black is your favourite colour you’re most likely a deep analytical person who is hesitant to accept before checking things out. You hold deep spiritual beliefs, but more on the basis of realism – when you’ve gone you’ve gone. Black is really not associated with any one chakra but is neutral in its power.
A person who has an aversion to black may have fear for the unknown, or fear for the abuse of power. Desires to become free from all kinds of dependency, blockages, hindrances; to throw off shackles.
